New Research from eFinancialCareers.com, the worldís online finance recruiting website, confirms what many of us deep down believe ñ August is a time for holidaying not work. But new research shows many were also looking for their next position, more so than at any time previous.
According to the survey of 343 City professionals, 49.6% openly admitted to not having been at all productive in the month of August ñ whilst only 21.3% felt the lack of people/activity allowed them to be more productive. 29.2% said they were as productive as always.
Meanwhile, this August saw the highest number of job searches (62,701) and online job applications (36,569) in a single week made through the eFinancialCareers.com service for any August since it was launched in 2000.
Ian Brown, Editor at Large for eFinancialCareers.co.uk, said:
ìIt is tempting but difficult to draw conclusions based on more online activity on a jobs board and less focus at work, but itís interesting as a bit of fun to make a correlation between the two. Certainly, our traffic in terms of visitors and applications shows many were using August as a springboard for new job searches. If I were an employer I might be looking at ways to stagger holidays to capture more summer business from competitors and keep my people focused.î
