Outlook Is Bright For Executive Employment Market In 2006

Search Firms Adding Staff At Record Levels To Keep Pace With Growth

The strong executive job growth that persisted in the face of record high energy prices and increasing interest rates in 2005 is expected to gain significant momentum in the year ahead. ExecuNetís Recruiters Confidence Index (RCI), a monthly survey of executive recruiters conducted by the leading executive job search and recruiting network, reveals the search industry is anticipating the demand for executive talent to climb in 2006.

According to the survey of 140 executive recruiters, 70% are confident or very confident that the executive employment market will improve during the next six months. In the first six months of 2006, the executive search industry is expecting a 26% increase in the number of assignments received from corporate clients ñ a significant increase from the 17% rise in assignments reported for all of 2005.

Next Six Months
ìHaving just finished its best year since 2000, the search industry is optimistic that hiring will continue to rebound sharply at the executive level,î says Mark Anderson, President of ExecuNet. ìAs the employment marketís recovery gains steam, corporations will find themselves going head to head with rivals for the best executive talent ñ a competition that will quickly drive up compensation packages.î

To prepare for sustained growth in the executive employment market, 60% of all search firms have plans to hire additional professional staff in the next three months. During the past three months, 44% of executive recruiting firms have added professional staff ñ this marks a record high for search firm hiring.
