This seminar addresses the dangers which are inherent in tax schemes, particularly where offshore elements are involved. It is relevant to all boardroom members and senior management of companies in every sector.
Maurice Martin, Senior Partner and Joint Head of Business Investigations at Tarlo Lyons, will examine the following issues.
What criteria do the courts apply when deciding if a tax scheme works?
What are the tax authorities looking for when considering whether tax avoidance is in fact evasion?
What is the backdrop to these issues within the EU and the OECD?
The EU Directive on taxation of savings income.
The recent merger of Inland Revenue and HM Customs & Excise.
