The UKís drug and alcohol treatment charity, Addaction, selects Intellectís integrated HRMS solution for HR, Payroll, Recruitment, Training and Online Self-Service deployment.

HR and Payroll software specialist Intellect has won a major contract from leading UK charity Addaction for a fully integrated HR and Payroll solution, comprising the modular Workforce suite of modules for human resource management, recruitment and training, and Ochre Payroll. The result of a 3-month competitive tender process, Addaction selected the integrated Workforce and Ochre combination as the best fit for its ongoing system requirements, and as a key component to support the charityís plans for dynamic growth and strategic development. Addaction plans a phased implementation for completion by 1st July 2006, involving its Central Office in London and employees based at more than 70 project offices and satellite locations around the UK.

With a current headcount of some 650, Addaction identified the need for a state of the art, flexible HR, Health & Safety and Payroll management system (HRMS). Providing more than 70 services around the country to over 20,000 people annually, Addaction operates in a demanding sector, focusing on providing advice and treatment for young people, as well as drop-in harm reduction, residential units and structured day care. HR Systems Manager Alex Crispin details Addactionís system requirements: ìOur criteria were very straightforward - we were looking for a totally integrated system that would provide a complete solution, from fully integrated HR and Payroll, through to self-service access for our employees around the country, as well as online recruitment tools. We identified a number of key basic requirements, ranging across elements such as split funding, supporting dual posts on different rates, zero hours workers, ease of handling back-pay and mid-month increases. Added to this was the need for a really intuitive system with a good look and feel, plus a company that we felt we could work with. As a highly democratic organisation, we wanted to choose a system that everyone would feel comfortable with, setting up an internal focus group that involved all aspects of the business. Our HR, IT and administration teams came up with a unanimous choice - Intellectís Workforce and Ochre integrated HR and Payroll - as providing the best match across all our requirements.î

Human Resources Director Guy Pink, who joined Addaction in July, is in the process of evolving a detailed strategic development plan for the organisation, and sees the timing of the new system as an added bonus, commenting:

ìA key objective in selecting a new HRMS is to make the administration process smoother and easier, alongside improving the service that the HR team can provide to managers across the organisation, and involving the development of a more strategic role in the future. We have some exciting plans in place, including working with the Open University on a pioneering 12-week Management Development initiative, which we hope will aid the creation of a more vocational platform for charity professionals in future. We also plan to use Workforce to track frontline as well as organisational managersí training and development needs. We have a demanding schedule for implementing the system, and are looking forward to working with the Intellect team to realise our goals.î
