IT professionals wipe the floor with other employees when it comes to console games, according to skills assessments carried out by The Training Camp.
The Accelerated Learning expert created profiles of the skills-set needed for five different careers and matched them against those needed to successfully master computer games: decision-making, leadership, quick responses, co-ordination and strategic planning. IT staff proved to have the most effective skill set to win against virtual Formula One opponents or enemy troops.
ìTraditionally, itís been assumed that itís couch potato ëgeeksí that are good at computer games because hours of practise is what makes people gaming experts. The profiles prove that in fact, skills developed in the workplace are the key to reaching the highest levels of success,î said Robert Chapman, co-founder, The Training Camp. ìQuick reflexes can be gained through constant repetition, but itís only when they are used in combination with leadership and decision-making skills that games can be conquered.î
To encourage the transferral of skills acquired for professional qualifications, all students undertaking a course in August with The Training Camp will receive a PlayStation Portable, over a month before they go on sale in the UK.
