According to the latest Annual Recruitment, Retention and Turnover Survey from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, employers are still struggling to fill vacancies.
The survey which interviewed 715 UK employers found that 85% had experienced recruitment difficulties in the last year.
Organisations are starting to consider new directions in recruitment methods one of them being exhibitions.
Job Scene, the largest series of recruitment, career, education and training events in the UK, enables recruiters and enrollers to meet thousands of motivated people in one place at one time, face to face in an interactive environment which represents value for money recruitment and the most direct form of marketing there is.
Rebecca Clake, recruitment and retention adviser at the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development, commenting on the survey findings, said:
Low unemployment and a generally buoyant economy have made it a jobseekers market. Employers are fighting over a small number of potential recruits, and are left facing real difficulties getting the right people into the right jobs.
At Job Scene exhibitions which are held across the UK visitors arrive well presented, well prepared and in a positive frame of mind, actively seeking opportunities ranging from work to training and education.
They are open to new ideas and receptive to companies they might not otherwise consider or might not even know are recruiting.
CIPD research also shows that over two-thirds of employers (68%) have had to appoint someone in the last year who didnít have all the skills and experience required to do the job, but who has the potential to grow into the role.
At a Job Scene exhibition exhibitors can put a face to a CV or application form, evaluate the skills and interaction of the person they are talking to which is invaluable for those recruiting for customer facing roles.
They can also collect CV and application forms, potential candidate data, build a database of possible future applicants, screen for interview, and even interview on the spot streamlining their own process, minimising the strain on internal resources and cutting costs.
A professionally equipped stage, seminar rooms and advice clinics help proactive exhibitors get even closer to their audience and raise their profile further.
The dedicated Job Scene team draws on 15 yearsí recruitment exhibition experience and a reputation for exceptional customer service which has earned them associate membership of the Institute of Customer Service.
Early booking secures an invitation to a free exhibitor workshop with tips and hints on how to make the best of the event, and get involved with the extensive professional marketing and PR campaign which supports the show.
Visitors include career changers, people returning to work, graduates, school and college leavers and the unemployed looking for everything from full to part-time, temporary to permanent and entry level to senior appointments.
