The Flexible Worker of the Year awards coincides with National Temporary Workers Week. This is a chance for the recruitment industry to recognise the unsung heroes of the temporary workforce by rewarding them for their hard work.

Helen comments, ìAntonie has worked with us for over three years on a permanent and temporary basis. Many clients will specifically ask for Antonie and he always generates compliments.î

Helen continues, ìOn one particular occasion Antonie was working at another private event when a lady collapsed at a table that Antonie was serving. He discreetly took the lady out of the room and put her in the recovery position, monitored her pulse and breathing and relayed her state to the ambulance men on arrival. Antonie always goes above and beyond the call of duty and I am always confident that if Antonie is on a job then the client will be happy.î

Temporary workers do the same jobs that permanent workers do. With 33,000 Adecco temporary candidates employed at any one time temporary workers are no longer a niche within the workforce - they are the workforce.

Steven Kirkpatrick, Chief Operating Officer of Adecco UK and Ireland, ìTemporary employment can sometimes be perceived as secondary to permanent positions but the temporary workforce is key to the success of UK industry and gives candidates the flexibility to coordinate their working commitments around home life. The ëFlexible Worker of the Yearí award allows us to recognise the temporary workers who go the extra mile and show dedication and commitment to their job.î
