Asthma UK has come 5th in the Financial Times Best Workplaces in the UK list and voted one of the top 100 best workplaces in Europe.
The medium sized charity with 96 employees, improved its ranking from 39th in 2003. Some of the factors that influenced Asthma UKís ranking included staff development opportunities and flexible family friendly policies enabling all employees to balance their personal and work life.
The Great Place to Work Institute, which conducts the surveys, interviewed employees as well as employers. Staff had to complete questionnaires, which amounted to two thirds of the result and Asthma UK completed two audits. Asthma UK received a special award this year as over 90% of staff were positive that the charity has systems in place so that they are able to raise any concerns they have and expect appropriate action.

Asthma UKís vision is ëcontrol over asthma today, freedom from asthma tomorrowí. The charity works with people with asthma, health professionals and researchers to develop a better understanding of the condition and to promote better care for the 5.2 million people in the UK who have asthma.
