Burlington, MA ñ The International Association for Human Resource Information Management (IHRIM) and Knowledge Infusion today announced the results of a new workforce performance survey exploring the relationship between human capital management strategy and business performance. The overwhelming majority of companies responding to the survey cited Workforce Performance Management as their top Human Capital Management (HCM) priority for 2005. Workforce Performance Management is the strategic use of HCM applications such as learning management, performance management, succession planning, career planning, and competency management to drive specific business results. Survey respondents were HR technology managers and HR executives from IHRIMís 3,000 membership base.
ìOrganizations understand that business performance would improve if greater investment were made in technology to cultivate talent, yet only a small percentage of companies today have the proper infrastructure to realize that goal,î said Jason Averbook, Knowledge Infusion CEO. ìThe need for a comprehensive technology roadmap that can get you from a vision, to the reality of your workforce directly impacting the business needs, is crucial for success.î
The results of the initial IHRIM and Knowledge Infusion Workforce Performance Survey include:
96% of companies reported Workforce Performance management is their top human capital management priority for 2005;
Over 90% of organizations believe that strategic HCM applications can make an impact on the financial performance of the organization;
Less than 12% of organizations believe they have successfully aligned their workforce to match the business performance goals of their company; and
The top priorities for 2005 are in order: Performance Management, Learning Management, and Workforce Planning.
The reasons cited for the above initiatives include the need for a strong link between training, knowledge and performance; the lack of understanding the skills and abilities in the organization; and HR now being in the position to move beyond core HR, Benefits, and Payroll systems.
ìThe links between training and performance are clear. HR organizations are ready to move past managing core HR and Benefits to focus on more strategic initiatives that can impact the business. IHRIM is committed to helping members through this transformation with tools, training, and resources that will help tie HR and Training directly to operating metrics and financial results,ì said Lynne Mealy, IHRIM president and CEO.
Knowledge Infusion will officially release the results of the survey at IHRIM HRMStrategies 2005 in Reno, Nevada, as well as on an upcoming webcast featuring Jason Averbook and Heidi Spirgi from Knowledge Infusion on May 19th. Register below:
