Delivering meaning, driving retention: 67% of workers stay longer where purpose meets practice

Randstad releases 2025 Local Sustainability Initiatives Report

As part of its continued support for the UN Global Goals, Randstad has published its 2025 Local Sustainability Initiatives Report. The report captures how Randstad’s teams across 24 markets are delivering tangible impact through programs that promote a fair labor market, foster equity in the workplace, and help people and employers navigate the green transition.

The report comes at a time when sustainability is central to how organizations attract, retain, and engage talent. Randstad data shows that 67% of workers globally are more likely to stay with an employer that shares their values. Across industries and geographies, aligning business strategy with social impact is a clear expectation of talent.

Myriam Beatove Moreale, Randstad CHRO and Chair of the Sustainability Steering Committee, comments:

“As the world’s leading talent company, we know the power of meaningful work. It does not just build careers, but it shapes more sustainable futures for communities. This report shows what happens when we align purpose and performance. From empowering refugees to driving the green transition, our people are delivering real impact, and helping to create a more equitable world of work for all.”

refugee and (im)migrant inclusion: milestone surpassed.

In 2023, Randstad pledged to support 50,000 refugees by 2025 through training and employment, as part of its partnership with the Tent Partnership for Refugees. That target has now been exceeded. In 2024 alone, Randstad supported more than 37,000 refugees and 215,000 migrants across 15 countries — providing language training, interview preparation, and upskilling in fields like logistics and technology to help them build more secure futures.

breaking barriers to work: equity in action across demographics.

Randstad also continued to expand its focus on equity, supporting both young people and older workers facing barriers to employment. In Belgium and France, more than 2,300 NEET youth not in education, employment, or training (NEET) gained skills and access to opportunities. Globally, nearly 240,000 people aged 50 and over were placed into meaningful work. Additionally, over 560,000 talent under 25 and over 11,000 persons with disabilities were placed in employment.

supporting the green transition.

Randstad is playing a crucial role in preparing the workforce for the green transition. In Sweden, the company supports the green steel transformation by helping staff a major new production facility in partnership with Stegra, where over 900 workers will be hired by 2026 to contribute to one of Europe’s most ambitious decarbonization projects.

In the Netherlands, Randstad has partnered with employers in the energy sector to train workers in solar panel and heat pump installation, building the skills needed to power the energy transition.

promote a fair labor market.

Randstad is one of the most active advocates in our industry for protecting these rights and ensuring people everywhere have access to fair and decent jobs that provide living wages. We are committed to driving the provision of decent work and reducing inequalities for talent. Protecting the health and safety of talent is a top priority. For example, Randstad Argentina has a dedicated program to reduce occupational accidents and illnesses among talent, beginning with focused health & safety (H&S) training during induction.

when values go global: Randstad people giving back.

Randstad also continued to make a difference through its corporate citizenship framework, Randstad with Heart, which helps coordinate global volunteering, philanthropy, and pro bono work. In 2024, more than 5,900 employees contributed nearly 30,800 hours of volunteering through local initiatives, including 106 in-person activities during Randstad’s Month of Heart campaign.

Randstad also marked 20 years of partnership with VSO, supporting over 7,400 people in Tanzania, Kenya and Cambodia. Through projects like Boosting the Blue Economy and From Waste to Work, Randstad volunteers helped young people gain green and entrepreneurial skills, with more than 1,400 securing employment or becoming self-employed.
