Science and technology company QinetiQ joined forces with agency aia to scoop the Grand Prix award at this yearís CIPD Recruitment Marketing Awards. The Chartered Institute of Personnel and Developmentís (CIPD) annual awards, in partnership with the Guardian, promote innovative recruitment marketing solutions and aim to raise standards across the industry.

QinetiQ used an innovative approach creating a touch-screen kiosk as part of their recruitment campaign. This was used to attract the science graduates needed to ensure the team continues to deliver original scientific and technological solutions to businesses. QinetiQ used words, technology and interaction to appeal to candidates and promote them as a leading technological and scientific organisation.

Geoff Armstrong, Director General, says, ìCompetition for the best people is fierce. The ability to attract the right candidates through advertising has never been more critical. A good recruitment marketing campaign can help ensure employers get the right skills and talent on board to make the difference between success and failure.î

Diversity within recruitment marketing:

The CIPD sponsored Diversity Excellence Award was given to the Environment Agency, who worked with agency Work Communications, for their efforts to change its image and the perceptions of its organisation to create a more diverse workforce.

Dianah Worman, CIPD Diversity Adviser, says, ìMore and more organisations are understanding the business case for diversity and recognising how it can help widen the recruitment base, and could lead to more customers and greater profits. Employers need to make sure their recruitment marketing is free of stereotypical images in order to reach and appeal to people who have the skills to do the job.

ìManaging diversity is about being creative and opening doors to different people and new ideas ñ having access to a wider range of perspectives and views may result in higher quality ideas or solutions, in a creative or problem-solving environment.

îWe recognise that many employers are already using innovative approaches to tackle the diversity challenge. These awards help raise standards within the industry and offer a fantastic opportunity for employers efforts to be recognised.î
