Unveiled at the 2017 Augmented and Virtual Reality Conference at Manchester Metropolitan University on 23 February, the Point Jobs app uses state-of-the-art Augmented Reality technology so users can apply for jobs while on the move.
The app lets jobseekers pre-load a CV to enable one-click applications on the spot. Point Jobs also allows employers and recruiters to add their roles to the job board for free and drop a pin on a map where the vacancy is being advertised.
Speaking at the conference, Chief Marketing Officer at Volcanic, Matt Comber, said: “With Gen Zers now entering the workplace, recruitment businesses need to rethink the whole job application process. Now, for the first time, we have brought Augmented Reality to recruitment. Jobseekers can focus their search through the lens of their phone and apply for roles in seconds.
“The concept for Point Jobs came from those original methods of recruitment where agencies would advertise roles in their shop windows. The idea of knocking on doors with a set of CVs is highly outdated but the principle remains the same – employers and agencies are still keen to capture speculative applications.
“With Point Jobs, you simply hold up your smartphone to find roles relevant to your search and click to apply on the spot. The app is as simple as point, click and apply, and we’re so proud to have developed something that will enhance the way people search for jobs in the future.”
The development of Point Jobs follows a period of considerable growth for Volcanic since its launch in 2010. The company, headquartered in Stockport, has gone on to open offices in London and Liverpool as well as developing a presence on the ground in Australia, Mexico City and Kuala Lumpur.
