Training recognised as key for the future of traditional industries

Dale Carnegie have announced a new account win, working with Celloglas

Leeds based training and development company, Dale Carnegie have announced a new account win, working with Celloglas, the largest decorative print finishing company in the UK, to help them adjust to their new management structure, having recently been acquired by an American private investment company.

This new change has meant Celloglas having to come out from the umbrella of a large multinational, which they were previously managed by, to now find their own management style and structure that will suit them in taking the company forward.

With 400 employees over 18 sites of Celloglas, the de-layering of unnecessary management structures has meant increased responsibilities and accountabilities for managers not accustomed to making significant decisions. This dramatic culture change meant training was needed in basic management skills, which had been neglected over many years.

Celloglas decided to invest in training offered by Dale Carnegie as part of a continuous improvement program necessary to drive and manage change throughout the organisation, with staff undertaking a six week course in ëBusiness Development and Improvementí and six Directors also went through the íExecutive Developmentí program. These sessions are now running with management on a quarterly basis.

Richard Pinkney, Operations Director at Celloglas, commented ìWe have started to build and forge a strong working relationship with Dale Carnegie. The changes we have seen from the course havenít been the íbig bangí we sometimes expect or think we want after a training course but something more profound. Those managers who have attended have each gained something different. It has been a gradual shift of attitude and awareness of how their behaviour and attitude affects their own performance and the performance of others. It is as much about personal development as it is about business development.î

ìThe print industry is changing and Celloglas believe to compete successfully you need the best machinery, and the best managers and staff. Finding good machinery is easy, but finding good managers and staff isnít so easy ñ we are committed to working with the team we have grown with to develop their skills for the future.î
