Three quarters (77 per cent) of British workers expect to be trained as part of their job, according to a study by Manpower, the UKís leading employment agency.
The survey also reveals the widespread appetite for skills development
- of the 39 per cent of workers receiving formal training, a third (38 per cent) would like more.
Amongst employees who do not receive work-based learning, a large majority (67 per cent) argue that lack of training could be a reason to change jobs.
Greg Teare, Operations Director at Manpower, said: Itís great news that employees expect formal training. This indicates that people are becoming increasingly concerned with career-development. The UK currently has a large skills shortage, and work-based training is key to addressing this.
The results support Manpowerís decision to introduce Evaluate, a new skills assessment and training tool. Evaluate contains more than 70 tests which measure a candidateís skills, identify areas for further development. and it also provides training courses to upskill candidates to suit exactly what employers need.. Manpower also offers all staff and candidates free access to more than 1,000 online courses through their Direct Training service, covering a range of areas including computer skills, leadership, communication and customer service.
