The tight labor market has put the squeeze on employers to market for candidates, creating an explosion in job boards and social networking sites that advertise jobs. To give staffing firms an edge with the posting process, Eagan-based TempWorks Software has announced the January 2007 launch of its Job Order Listing Transport (JOLT) service that integrates staffing systems with job boards. JOLT allows recruiters to efficiently post their openings to these sites with a simple click from their staffing software system.
Scheduled to begin operations on January 1, 2007, the JOLT service will connect recruiters using TempWorksí own staffing software system to the job boards and niche social networking communities. The service intends to support additional applicant tracking and job order systems in the fourth quarter of 2007.
ìThe fact is, the best candidates today simply never come on the market and itís critical that we reach out to niche communities of passive candidates,î says Gregg Dourgarian, CEO of TempWorks. Dourgarian maintains that smart employers no longer restrict themselves to the popular job boards and are already penetrating social networking communities like MySpace and YouTube to get the word out. ìIf you are only using the legacy job boards to get your message out, youíre letting yourself get caught up in a stampede of employers chasing after a dwindling population of candidates,î says Gregg. JOLT allows recruiters to identify and focus their efforts on the appropriate candidate communities and to tailor their postings accordingly.
JOLT also plans to distribute video clips and other multimedia job announcements by fourth quarter 2007. Brenda Larson, Director of Marketing at TempWorks, describes the multimedia offering as fundamental. A job listing can not project the enthusiasm about a job that a video clip can. We’re living in a YouTube world and employers need to make their message as persuasive as possible.î
Unlike traditional job boards or job distribution engines, JOLT integrates seamlessly with the hiring managerís staffing system and supports both text and video clip postings. ìIt used to be that you could slap some postings together and stick them on a major job board and expect results. Today, you have to market for candidates creatively and systematically. Your posting must convey detail and the reality of a real job opening, and you really canít get that done efficiently if your posting engine doesnít integrate with your staffing system,î Gregg stated.
TempWorks plans to offer its JOLT services on a monthly subscription with a free service for basic ads and premium services for reaching out to niche communities.
