South West Trains embraces positive health

Sona Helps SWTs Employees Get Their Health on Track

South West Trains (SWT) has once again recruited the expertise of one of Europeís leading experts in the provision of positive health services, Sona, to run a series of Health Fairs for its employees. The aim of the Sona Health Fairs is to educate employees in the merits of adopting a healthy attitude towards wellbeing and the benefits of leading ëa healthy lifeí.

Barbara Davenport, Head of Occupational Health for South West Trains explains: ìThis is the third year that we have joined forces with Sona to offer our employees fitness testing, therapies, lifestyle checks, and general health advice as a means of educating and motivating our employees towards a healthier lifestyle.î

Sonaís Health Fairs embrace a wide range of health and therapy services. Provided by fully qualified therapists, they include Acu-Pressure Massages, Indian Head Massages, Fitness and Lifestyle advice, Nutritional Assessments and Musculo Skeletal Assessments. Group workshops can also be conducted to introduce employees to the Alexander Technique, Pilates, Yoga, Tai Chi and Meditation and provide general nutrition advice.

Continues Barbara Davenport, ìSonaís therapists are extremely approachable and professional, which goes a long way towards giving staff the confidence to take part in these Health Fairs. The events, which happen at each of our depots, have proved to be a highly effective way of educating employees in how to make healthy life changes. The excellent feedback we have received from our employees shows they think the Fairs are valuable î

ìWhether companies are looking to provide a one-off staff event, or gauge interest in a longer-term initiative to address health issues and improve wellbeing in the workplace, we can tailor our Health Fairs to match the individual needs and budgets or our clients and the businesses they operate,î confirmed Julia Lloyd, Sona Mind and Body Director. ìAnd importantly, we collect and collate feedback from staff and practitioners to provide a comprehensive report for clients, giving them the ability to measure the perceived benefits of any such initiatives. The overriding principle of the Health Fairs is to encourage employees to take a proactive approach to improving their general health and wellbeing, in turn stimulating a motivated and happy workforce.î
