A new poll by the British Red Cross has revealed that many companies are missing out on the benefits of on-site training.
The poll surveyed 438 HR managers, health and safety officers, office managers and others responsible for booking first aid courses. It found that whilst 48% thought in-company training would be a convenient way for staff to be trained, and a further 21% were in favour if it were to lead to cost savings, only 15% of Red Cross customers currently use their in-company service.
Miss Ronnie Dennison, UK sales manager for the Red Cross commercial training division, said: We believe many organisations are failing to take advantage of the benefits of in-company training. In terms of cost and convenience in-company courses are a good option for all organisations, regardless of size.
Miss Dennison added: For smaller customers, training on their own premises means travel and accommodation costs are not incurred. For larger organisations with several sites or branches, in-company training is simply a more convenient and less disruptive option.
Booking in-company courses can lead to significant cost savings: customers can save over 30% when they arrange for a Red Cross trainer to come to them In the case of the HSE approved four-day First Aid at Work course, the savings can be as great as 1,270*.
Other benefits include selecting specific training dates, volume discounts based on a companyís annual expenditure and a dedicated team of customer service advisers, who can provide advice and guidance on bookings.
