Celine Pinter, MD of HR GO Huntingdon Ltd, has become a sought after expert on matters associated with Migrant workers in East Anglia. She has dealt with companies who employ large numbers of Migrant workers since 1987. As a consequence she is regularly approached by BBC making TV and Radio broadcasts on a Regional and National basis.
Celineís latest fifteen minutes of fame came from an interview she gave on the Radio 4 and BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, where she gave her assessment of the consequences should all migrant workers go home.
It all stemmed from a talk Celine gave at her local Chamber of Commerce event earlier in the year about the benefits of a diverse workforce. It was a hot topic and attracted 100 local businesses wanting to hear about the changes that were facing them. She was then contacted by the BBC who were looking for quotes on this heavily discussed subject for Radio 4 quickly becoming the regionís media contact regarding Migrant Workers.
This has now led to work with the Gangmanster Licensing Authority, The Financial Times, Cambridgeshire Constabulary and National Radio, some of which was credited to Celine and some that was used as background research.
Celine has welcomed the opportunity to share her knowledge of Migrant Workers, a topic she has heavily researched over the past few years and gained first hand experience through the operation of her two recruitment branches in Huntingdon and Peterborough, trading as Recruiting People.
Celine comments;
ìI have been working with the issue of Migrant Workers for the last few years, when the impact of the change in the available candidates.
We could all see that candidates were flooding in from Europe with skills in their own country of origin and a keenness to work as many hours as they could.î
ìThis changed the employment market significantly, with salaries becoming more aligned with the Minimum Wage and a greater availability of staff. Clients were worried about communication issues and Health and Safety issues and put into place their own translations in order to reduce risks.
ìThis turn of events presented Employment Agencies with more opportunities to discuss trends with their clients, and to break into new markets. Suddenly, finding candidates did not take up as much time as it used to, once the language barrier was addressed, agencies had a committed workforce.î
