Although email has revolutionised the way businesses communicate, it looks as though traditional post will continue to be a part of our lives, according to research from recruiters Crone Corkill and FSS.
When asked ìIs post by mail a thing of the past?î 59% of respondents from office support recruiter Crone Corkill said that no, post will always be needed, with just 16% saying that yes, everything can now be send electronically. Interestingly, 27% of respondents from finance recruiter FSS answered that ësnail mailí would continue to be used as they pay more attention to information they receive through the post.
With a new service to be launched soon in the UK, which allows users to upload documents that are then printed out and distributed at a location near to the recipient, it was suggested that traditional post could disappear. However these survey results show that the majority of people believe that post is here to stay.
ìToday, most documents can be sent electronically which is great for reducing companiesí carbon footprintsî says Rachel Tubridy, Head of Marketing. ìBut, because of sheer volume, emails can get ignored - receiving something through the post tends to gain more attention and can give a sense of importance. It also adds that personal touch which email can lack. It does appear that sometimes, there is still no substitute for an envelope and a stamp to send the likes of birthday cards and presents.î
