The Professional Contractors Group (PCG) is surveying the UKís freelancers and contractors to gain a detailed understanding of how they interact with HM Revenue and Customs.
PCG has already offered extensive input to HMRCís consultation exercises over the last two years and will feed the results of this survey directly into the ongoing work within HMRC. This is a chance for freelancers and contractors to make their views heard directly to the architects of HMRCís reform programme.
Areas covered in the survey include IR35 and S660A, the conduct of tax inspectors and the current reforms being undertaken within HMRC.
PCG wants to ensure as broad a sample as possible for this survey, and so it is open to non-members as well as members.
PCGís Chief Executive Officer John Thomas said, ìwe have repeatedly warned HMRC not to underestimate the difficulties it faces in regaining the trust of small businesses in the UK. With this survey we aim to quantify exactly how the freelance community views the tax authority and what can be done to remedy the problems.î
