Stonehouse-based Omega Resource Group has made good its commitment to strive for carbon neutrality, gaining accreditation under the ISO 14001 environmental standard following a rigorous external audit.
For the recruitment and training specialist – which passed its stage two audit late last month (March) – the accreditation marks a significant leap towards reducing its carbon footprint and proactively supporting green initiatives around Gloucestershire and the South West.
“Business ethics and social responsibility have always been core values of this company,” explained CEO Alan Beresford. “This latest success will allow us to even more actively support the environmental agendas of our public sector and corporate clients, for whom sustainability is an increasingly important aspect of day-to-day business.”
Omega’s successful accreditation, according to Beresford, was due in part to Omega’s Quality, Health & Safety and Environment Officer Amie Turner, who has completed the Chartered Institute of Environmental Health (CIEH) Environmental Management certificate.
“Amie’s hard work in earning the CIEH qualification has been instrumental in helping us achieve ISO 14001 accreditation, and her knowledge and expertise will be a valuable resource for our clients,” said Beresford.
Turner’s qualification was gained through her participation in the Parklife Environmental Business Management Programme, funded by Stroud District Council and the European Social Fund. Parklife provides a unique business support service to companies on key business parks around Gloucestershire, and now also has a base at Omega’s headquarters in Stonehouse.
