Unity Bank, Executive Director, Risk Management and Controls Alhaji Lamis Dikko, has called on the Nigerian Army to embark on recruitment of new candidates via electronic channels. Addressing senior army officers at the official signing of Memorandum of Understanding between the Bank and Nigerian Army, Alhaji Lamis said that if adopted, sale and submission of the application forms would be transferred to electronic format.
He said that the concept of e-recruitment would ensure flexibility of recruitment management and make contact with prospective applicants easy through online channels like SMS and e-mail.
Abdulhakeem Ismaila, who heads Transactional service department at the Bankís headquarters in Abuja, during a presentation said that recruitment of new candidates into the Army via electronic channels would also help to reduce existing paper work on recruitment by 80%.
Listing the benefits of the concept, Ismaila said that it would save the Army production and administrative costs of recruitment forms. According to Ismaila, the concept would also help block revenue leakage and ensure completeness of fee collection.
It simplifies and shortens the selection and recruitment process through filter capabilities of the solution he said, adding that adopting the concept would eradicate problems associated with non-delivery of completed forms.
He said that with 215 branch network strategically located within the six geo-political zones in the country, Unity Bank has closely positioned itself to serve the Nigerian Army nation-wide.
While delivering his speech, Chief of Army Staff, General Azazi who signed on behalf of the Nigerian Army said, he believes that the new system will not only help identify the skills of individuals to be recruited but will also ensure the establishment of the culture of best practices in the force.
