Monster Worldwide, Inc. has announced plans to expand its monthly Monster Employment Index with the addition of country-specific data measuring online job demand in France, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden, and the United Kingdom. Monthly findings will be based on job posting data collected from Monster and more than 1,400 carefully selected Web sites, believed to be representative of employer activity within the five countries. Monster Worldwide will introduce the first country-specific findings beginning in June 2005.
The Monster Employment Index has become an established and widely recognized leading labor market indicator in the United States, providing labor market watchers with valuable, real-time insight into online recruitment activity, said Andrew J. McKelvey, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Monster Worldwide.
We are seeing the same migration of traditional help wanted advertising to the Internet in Europe as we are in the United States. So, it makes perfect sense to expand the Monster Employment Index and contribute data that, when combined with other labor statistics, will provide a much more complete view of the European job market.
Utilizing a team of researchers, the Monster Employment Index uses a consistent methodology to track monthly job posting activity representing millions of employer postings in key employment sectors. Job postings are online advertisements placed by an employer looking to fill one or more vacant, or recently created, job positions. The Monster Employment Index counts postings as an indicator of demand for employees.
In addition to generating broad findings for the five countries and Europe, the Index will offer a breakdown by 10 occupational categories, as well as provide observations on regional and industry trends.
All of the data and findings in the Monster Employment Index are validated for accuracy through third party auditing conducted on a monthly basis by ARC Research, a Cranford, New Jersey-based provider of innovative click and brick market research solutions.
