Making a better match

Unique ímatching engineí intended to set Jobjob apart in online recruitment

Job hunters and employers have a fresh new option with the introduction of a unique online recruitment website by Post Digital, a new business unit of The Post Publishing Plc. The site is billed as an industry first because of its job-matching engine software.

The website, www.jobjob.co.th, will make the online job search and recruitment process easier and quicker with less cost by acting as a matching service between job-seekers and recruiters.

According to M.L. Dhanavisuth Visuthi, vice-president of marketing, the matching engine provided by the Israeli partner Redmatch is the first of its kind to be used in Thailand.

The website is part of a corporate strategy to make wider use of Post Publishingís existing resources _ in this case classified content from the Bangkok Post and Post Today newspapers _ as well as create new content.

Currently, we are using content from our two highly trusted newspapers, which have mostly middle- to upper-market readers. However, for online recruitment, we plan to expand the market to a mass base covering a variety of [income] segments, says M.L. Dhanavisuth.

The bilingual site enables job seekers to find jobs that match their needs and qualifications, with daily job updates from the classified database.

After the initial process of registration and posting a re{aac}sume{aac}, the job seeker will be provided with the following services: basic job search, reciprocal matching, e-mail job alert, daily job updates, job matching, direct communication with recruiters, and more.

To ensure security and confidentiality, job seekers can opt to let all prospective recruiters see their re{aac}sume{aac}s or they can remain anonymous and screen recruiters they wish to contact.

For recruiters, the site offers a lower-cost means of recruiting and can lessen the time-consuming process of searching for and screening candidates. They can find the right candidates from a database available that offers a scoring system assigned to each candidate to measure how well his or her qualifications match the employerís requirements and expectations.

Recruiters can select to place their advertisements in the newspaper or on the website, or on both with additional fees. This is an effective way to increase the number of viewers and the potential audience, M.L. Dhanavisuth says.

The website also contains automatic uploads of newspaper ads and real-time auto job-matching. As well, it also contains news, job-related articles such as personality development, how to pass a job interview and human resource management tips, taken from the Bangkok Post and Post Today.

In the first few months since its launch, Jobjob has attracted 11,600 registrations, of which 60% have posted their re{aac}sume{aac}s. We expect to see 100,000 re{aac}sume{aac}s being posted on the website by the end of this year, M.L. Dhanavisuth says.

By the year 2008, revenue generated by Jobjob is expected to account for 10% of Post Digitalís overall revenue.

The local job-search market is highly competitive with about 10 players including JobsDB.com, Asiaís largest online recruitment specialist. However, Jobjob expects to become one of the top three within this year.
