Lincoln Employer Markets Announces Strategic Hires in the Group Insurance Team

Lincoln National Corporation recently named six new members of its Lincoln Employer Markets Group Insurance team in its Omaha and Atlanta offices. Lincoln Employer Markets offers a broad breadth of products focused on Retirement, Group Insurance and Executive Benefits and was strategically created to provide employers with integrated solutions for all non-healthcare-related benefits.

Timothy Bird, Assistant Vice President of Risk Services
Timothy Bird has been named Assistant Vice President of Risk Services for Lincoln Employer Markets Group Insurance business segment. In this position, Mr. Bird is responsible for the appeals unit, special investigations unit, settlements, social security and recoveries. Prior to this position, Mr. Bird was Assistant Director of PRISM Operations at The Hartford Life Insurance Company. Before joining Lincoln, Mr. Bird held positions at Jefferson Pilot Financial (now Lincoln Financial Group), UnumProvident Corporation and the Utah State Office of Rehabilitation. Mr. Bird has a bachelorís of science degree and a masterís of science degree from Utah State University. He also holds a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) designation and an Associate Life and Health Claims (ALHC) designation. Mr. Bird will be working in the Omaha, Neb. Group Insurance offices.

Marie Charvat, Vice President-Business Process, Group Underwriting and New Business Marie Charvat has been named Vice President of Business Process for Group Underwriting and New Business for Lincoln Employer Markets Group Insurance business segment. Ms. Charvat is responsible for leading the contract issue teams for all regional group offices. In addition, she is responsible for all project management for group underwriting and new business. Marie has worked for Lincoln Financial Group (previously Jefferson Pilot Financial) and Guarantee Life Insurance Company for thirty-two years. Marie became a Business Unit Director in 1999 and was promoted to Assistant Vice President-Group Underwriting in 2000. Marie holds a Fellow, Life Management Institute (FLMI) designation. Ms. Charvat will be working in the Omaha, Neb. Group Insurance offices.

Scott Hanson, Vice President of Group Underwriting
Scott Hanson has been named Vice President of Group Underwriting for Lincoln Employer Markets Group Insurance business segment. Mr. Hanson is responsible for pricing and risk management of employee benefits insurance offerings including life, disability and dental. Prior to this position, Hanson was Assistant Vice President of Underwriting for the Group Insurance team. Before joining Lincoln, Mr. Hanson held positions at Guarantee Life Insurance Company, Mutual of Omaha and Guarantee Mutual. He has a bachelorís of science degree in business administration from the University of Nebraska. Mr. Hanson will be working in the Omaha, Neb. Group Insurance offices.

Paul Martin, Vice President, Employee Care Center Services
As Vice President of Employee Care Center Services, Paul Martin is responsible for the claims services contact centers that support life, dental and disability claims. He is also responsible for the proficiency area, which includes quality assurance, training and the risk services area. Prior to joining Lincoln, Mr. Martin was Site Head of Disability Service Center for Aetna Insurance. He also held positions at UnumProvident Insurance and American Express Financial Advisors. Mr. Martin attended the College of St. Thomas and Augsburg College and holds a designation of Associate, Life and Health Claims (ALHC) from the International Claims Association. He will be working in the Omaha, Neb. Group Insurance offices.

Edie Moore, Assistant Vice President of Atlanta Disability Care Center
Edie Moore has been named Assistant Vice President of Atlanta Disability Care Center. In this role, Ms. Moore is responsible for leading and directing the disability organization responsible for short-term and long-term disability risk management. Prior to joining Lincoln, she spent five years with Amerigroup Corporation as the Vice President of Claims Operation. Her previous positions include Sr. Director of Claims for Promina Health System (GA) and Director of Operations with United Health Group (GA, NJ). Ms. Moore will be working out of Atlanta.

Timothy Sexton, Assistant Vice President, Human Resources
Timothy Sexton has been named Assistant Vice President, Human Resources, responsible for leading the human resource function for the Lincoln Employer Markets, Group Insurance segment in Omaha, Atlanta and more than 25 field offices. Prior to this role, Mr. Sexton was leading the human resource function for Lincoln Life and Annuity. His previous positions also include Human Resource Manager at Fluor Corporation and North American Human Resource Manager for UMBRO International. Mr. Sexton has a bachelorís of science degree in human resource management from Southern Wesleyan University and a masterís degree in human resource development from Clemson University. Mr. Sexton will be working in the Omaha, Neb. Group Insurance offices.
