Kwik save employment protection comment

Sue Ashtiany, Employer Partner at Nabarro comments on the impact the closure of 79 Kwik Save stores on employees

Sue Ashtiany, Employer Partner at Nabarro comments on the impact the closure of 79 Kwik Save stores on employees: ìEmployers should be alerted that the interests of employees have to be factored into their thinking process when closure of parts of a business or restructuring is on the horizon. The fact that the high street can be a challenging environment in which to do business doesn't detract from the need to comply with employment protection.

ìEmployers need to consult with the recognised trade union or representatives of the workforce at least 90 days before commencing redundancies affecting 100 people. Employees who are caught up in the employer's financial restructuring are entitled to a measure of notice and job protection in these circumstances.î
