Juneís Bank of Scotland Labour Market Report showed that the Scottish labour market strengthened in June with a large increase in both job placements and vacancies over the month. However, there continue to be skill shortages in Scotland particularly for firms looking for permanent staff, which has led to further increases in wages.

The report's labour market barometer was at 64.4 in June, its highest level since the start of the survey in January 2003. The index was above the equivalent barometer for the wider UK economy.

Demand was strongest for permanent staff in Nursing/Medical/Care roles and temporary workers in the Engineering & Construction category.
