Jobing.com, the nation's largest, locally-focused online recruitment media provider, announced today that it has acquired Milwaukee-based LocalCareers.com Inc., an online network that encompasses some 400 local and niche employment Web sites across the United States. The agreement marks Jobing.com's eighth acquisition since its founding in 2000, clearly indicative of the need for improved local recruiting resources in the nation's booming employment markets. A two-time Inc. 500ô Fastest Growing Company, Jobing.com currently serves seven states with a combined online and brick-and-mortar presence through local branches in 17 metropolitan communities, including Phoenix and Tucson.
Jobing.com Founder and CEO Aaron Matos said, LocalCareers.com and its family of high-traffic, local employment Web sites has built a solid business and I am honored that they have chosen to continue to grow as part of Jobing.com. This acquisition is a perfect fit for Jobing.com as we expand our focus on local recruiting beyond the states we currently serve.
In just four years, Jobing.com has expanded its services with major acquisitions that include Employcity.com, Coloradojobs.com, Jobsummit.com, the California Online Job Network, Rhinomite.com, and Careers Colorado. That growth, says Matos, is a result of Jobing.com's focus on local recruiting needs. Unlike the untargeted national sites, Jobing.com is dedicated solely to recruiting at the local level, connecting organizations with local people so they can build relationships and hire more effectively.
Jobing.com was born in 2000 when Matos, who was the director of human resources for a regional publishing and media company in Arizona, began to realize there was a phenomenal opportunity to leverage the power of the Internet to connect employers and job seekers with a focus on the local marketplace.
Jobing.com was launched as a Phoenix site and enjoyed swift success. Through the strategic acquisitions and new market start-ups, Matos' Internet job board evolved into an online community that provides the forum, resources, and technology to connect organizations and job seekers in 17 major metropolitan communities. Known for its innovative recruiting solutions and bold marketing strategies, Jobing.com has grown to become the nation's largest, locally-focused employment media provider, serving some 15,000 organizations with recruiting needs and welcoming more than four million visitors to its site every month.
LocalCareers.com shares similar roots. In the 1990's Brian Weis, LocalCareers.com founder, worked as a recruiter for several staffing and IT consulting companies in Wisconsin. He originally launched LocalCareers.com in October of 1998 under the domain WiJobs.com. Through the early acquisition of other career sites and a successful business model, the company evolved into the present network of LocalCareers.com. Today, Weis and his team operate some 400 sites around the country, including notable employment domains such as ArizonaJobs.com, CaliforniaJobs.com, NevadaJobs.com, TexasJobs.com and FloridaJobs.com. In addition, LocalCareers.com created niche employment sites such as Jobs4sales.com, Jobs4HR.com, and a number of other industry specific sites.
Our uniting with Jobing.com will benefit Wisconsin employers and job seekers in a number of ways, Weis said. From their innovative recruiting solutions to superb media options like employer videos, the expanded resources Jobing.com brings to the table has us all very excited.
There is great synergy between LocalCareers and Jobing, he said. It simply makes sense to leverage our combined resources as we endeavor to strengthen local recruiting efforts ... allowing us to increase our staff, increase our marketing efforts, continue to build a strong market presence, and ultimately better serve our clients -- within Wisconsin and beyond.
A team of staff members from both organizations is managing the ongoing integration of the LocalCareers network and Jobing.com. We will work hard to ensure an integration strategy that benefits all employees, clients, and job seekers, Matos said. I am thrilled to welcome LocalCareers to the Jobing family. Weis will continue to manage LocalCareers.com operations as a division of Jobing.com in Wisconsin.
