The Inspired Leaders Network (ILN) was founded over six years ago to bring the very best of the UKís leaders to a hungry and expectant audience.
With a straightforward and compelling formula, the Network has succeeded in bringing the likes of Greg Dyke, Anita Roddick, Charles Dunstone, Martha Lane Fox, Rt Hon Baroness Amos and George Galloway MP to share their undoubted thoughts and qualities with our membership.
It is a unique, up close and personal chance to hear from those that have got to the top of their profession, recounting both their successes and failures along the way.
On the 3rd July, ILN is taking a look at Corporate Social Responsibility like youíve never seen it before.
CSR is no longer a good cause. It is a business imperative.
For years many organisations have been jumping on the bandwagon simply because they couldnít afford to NOT be seen doing it ñ leaving the groundbreaking initiatives with the passion and the vision to the social entrepreneurs.
But those with the big hearts have, up to now, quite simply not known how to run programmes of this scope.
The big corporations doÖ but it has never been a top priority.
The blue chips have not put their best people on the case and have failed to put their full resources behind CSR - leaving it quite firmly on the back burner.
This has now come home to roost.
Globalisation and over capacity has now meant that the war for talent is raging with an ever increasing fervor.
Customers and employees are now asking what a companyís values are. Does it adopt environmentally friendly measures? How are low paid workers in Third World countries treated? What is the company policy on diversity? How does the corporation affect the local community? Is it going green?
But despite this there are still two sides of the debate. Those who care and those who DO. Compassion and forward thinking are simply not enough; if you donít deliver it doesnít register.
Most businesses donít care. But they have the power to make a difference.
They just need a wake up call.
