Inspira UK hosts - Transforming delivery at Royal Mail - Keynote speaker event this spring 2005

Can Royal Mail deliver the goods?...

The biggest turnaround in UK corporate history is being undertaken at Royal Mail. What role is HR playing? Historically HR has been viewed as controlling with a primary focus on industrial relations. Now HR must be more forward thinking. Can Royal Mail achieve this?

Inspira UK, one of the UKís most forward thinking HR and finance management consultancies, is hosting a keynote speaker event with Kevin Green, People and Organisational Development Director at Royal Mail, at 8.00am on May 17th 2005 at Royal Mail, The Phoenix Centre, Phoenix Place, London WC1X 0DG . The focus of this event will be ëTransforming delivery at Royal Mailí in light of recent structural changes within Royal Mailís HR function, some of which were led by Inspira UK.

By way of background, in 2002, Royal Mail was losing one million pounds a day. The organisation is now transforming itself into a customer focused business, ready for 2006, when it will face real competition. Kevin Green, People and Organisational Director at Royal Mail, will outline how this major change initiative is being accomplished highlighting the following areas:-

Putting HR ëbusiness partnersí into each area
Creating a central shared service
Bringing experts into head officeís HR team to focus on strategy

According to Sue Higgins, managing director of Inspira UK:
ìChange within any organisation is often difficult to comprehend, both from an internal and external perspective. How Royal Mail runs with internal structural changes and subsequently translates these into a customer service led business, offering long-term ROI, will be both challenging and rewarding. Having been perceived in the past as one of the UKís most ëtraditionalí of British businesses, it is now imperative that Royal Mail becomes outward focussed yet inward-engaged, particularly in light of emerging competition and a more accountable HR function. I look forward to both hearing direct from Kevin Green how Royal Mail will deliver changeî.

Inspira UK has played a key role in supporting Royal Mailís business partner development. The organisation knows from experience at other major companies how critical the implementation of a business partner strategy can be to supporting competent and robust change initiatives.
