Despite the economic climate and many redundancies, a recent salary survey from specialist HR Recruiters, HR Recruitment Solutions (HRRS) has found that several key HR roles have actually increased in salary levels in the past 12 months and envisage further increases in 2010.
For example, market averages for the role of HR Business Partner in the North West of England in 2008 were 33.4k, but this has seen a steady 12.5% increase to 37.6k average salary in 2009. In London territories, this has increased from 36.1k in 2008 to 39k in 2009 (8% increase).
Steve Smithson, HR Recruitment Director for HRRS says, Our recent salary survey was conducted with 400 clients so far and nearly 800 candidates and we were genuinely surprised with the outcomes. The reality of the survey seems to illustrate that although there have been redundancies in the HR market, the need to retain and attract professionally qualified staff has been made more important and employers have reflected this by increasing base salaries.
Our survey has also found several other benefits being added to more senior level roles, with Travel Allowances being standardised for 24% of companies in 2009, compared to 11% in 2008. Home working has increased once again, more down to companies offering more work-life balance and flexi-time and gym membership also seeing a steady increase.
HRRS are concluding their survey in December and January, with final results expected to be distributed to respondents in February 2010.
