Graduate Yorkshire appoints new team members to run innovative yorkshire internship programme

.

Graduates Yorkshire, which offers a range of recruitment services aiming to create opportunities for graduate talent in the region, has announced four new team members to run the recently launched Graduates Yorkshire Internship Programme.

The appointments come on the back of the successful launch of the scheme and strong interest from both graduates and businesses. All the new appointments are recent graduates from the Yorkshire region.

The Graduates Yorkshire Internship Programme is an initiative funded by regional development agency Yorkshire Forward, supporting paid graduate internships with employers in the region.

Its aim is to ensure the regionís best graduate talent gets access to valuable opportunities in the workplace which have often only been available to graduates with the financial support to fund such a placement.

Daniel Patrick will join the team as Business Development Officer and will be responsible for creating internships opportunities in North and West Yorkshire. Daniel, who graduated from the University of Hull with a BA in Human Geography, has first hand experience of the benefits of internships.
Daniel commented: ìI recently spent 12 months on a graduate internship programme in New York and know just how valuable these opportunities are to graduates. I'm delighted to be joining the team and to be part of such a worthwhile programme, helping to increase the prospects for fellow Yorkshire graduates is both worthwhile and exciting.

ìThe opportunity to join such a fantastic, forward thinking, tight-knit company responsible for Yorkshire's economic growth was too good to miss.

Existing Graduates Yorkshire team member John Cusworth will be Business Development Manager for South and West Yorkshire.

Rebecca Oliver and Gwen Needham join Graduates Yorkshire as Project Co-ordinators for the Internship programme. Rebecca and Gwen will be the first point of contact for employers and interns and will be responsible for running the assessment programme for applicants. Rebecca will cover South and East Yorkshire and Gwen will be responsible for North and West Yorkshire.

Rebecca, who studied at Sheffield Hallam University and graduated with a degree in Business Studies, joins Graduates Yorkshire from the NHS Sheffield where she was Events Coordinator / PA to the Executive Director.
Rebecca said: ìI am delighted to be part of a fantastic new team that all share the same goal. We are focused on making sure Yorkshire graduates get first class, hands on experience in the working world, as well as helping local organisations and businesses retain the best graduates in the country.

Gwen Needham is a recent Graduate from Northumbria University where she studied Business Studies is originally from Leeds.

Gwen commented: I am delighted to join the team and be part of this innovative new project. As a recent graduate I know first hand the problems others are experiencing finding graduate level jobs in the current market. Being able to provide opportunities for graduates to gain on the job experience could make a real difference to their career prospects and help them achieve their potential right here in Yorkshire.

Becky Ascough Graduates Yorkshire Internship Programme Project Manager said: ìGraduates Yorkshire lives out its values in promoting graduate talent by hiring some of the region's best graduate talent ourselves.

ìRebecca, Daniel and Gwen will bring new skills to the team and help us deliver the Internship Programme successfully. We have already had a lot of interest from both graduates and employers in the region in the programme, which offers three to twelve month paid internships.î

ìThe internship programme offers Graduates valuable experience of working life. By offering paid internships companies will have access to the most talented graduates, not just those that can afford to work unpaid, as occurs with unpaid placements.î
