Mainstream appeal and strong regional reach have contributed to fish4jobs consolidating its position at the head of the UK online recruitment market as outlined by the 2007 NORAS report, published today.
The NORAS report, which is the UKís leading source of independent information on the audiences of online recruitment sites, reveals that fish4jobs received 2.5 million unique users during October 2006 ñ an increase of 56% on the 2006 figure (1).
The reasons for fish4jobsí continued market domination include:
Strong regional reach: fish4jobs is particularly strong in the North, the Midlands and Wales ñ it doesnít just focus on jobseekers in London and the South East.
Mainstream appeal: 60% of visitors to the site come from the 16-34 year age bracket with a good spread amongst all age groups. The site also has a strong percentage of female visitors (58%) which gives recruiters a more balanced choice of candidates. In addition, fish4jobs is most commonly used by job seekers working in the core admin/secretarial (14%), retail (9%), customer service (7%) and sales (7%) jobs arenas, rather than niche sectors.
Strong selection of jobs: A third (36%) of site visitors said that strong selection of jobs listed on fish4jobs was a major factor in them coming back to the site. The site is regularly visited for people looking for jobs in sectors as diverse as construction, engineering, manufacturing, health, hospitality, transport and the public sector.
According to Joe Slavin, fish4 CEO: ìThe 2007 NORAS report not only shows that fish4jobs is the biggest recruitment website in terms of users in the UK, it also gives a good indication of how we have achieved this milestone.
ìfish4jobsí roots are in the regional newspaper market. For that reason, we have an unparalleled range of visitors from across the UK. In addition, half (52%) of our visitors come from the C1 and C2 social groups, proving that the site mirrors the makeup of the population of the country. We donít just appeal to young techies, we appeal to the whole range of job seekers in the UK.
ìOur success to date can also be attributed, in part, to the changing shape of the online recruitment market. Against a background of cheaper home PCs and faster home internet connections, NORAS reports that 60% of job hunters are accessing fish4jobs via broadband at home and 47% access the internet every day. It is easier than ever before for people, wherever they are in the UK, and whatever their background, to find a job onlineî
Richard Foan, Managing Director at ABC Electronic comments:
ìfish4jobs has seen a dramatic increase in the number of Unique Users it attracts; fantastic news for the site, and for the success of the online recruitment sector as a whole. By continuing to commit to the independent auditing of traffic figures to industry agreed standards, fish4jobs is able to instil trust in its audiences, in the volume of traffic it generates.î
(1) According to the NORAS report in 2006, fish4jobs had 1.6 million unique users during November 2005.
