Do you excel in your customer facing role?

Do you excel in your customer facing role? If you think you do, and can provide the best answer to this yearís Olive Barnett Award challenge, you could be winging your way to the world famous Ecole Hotelier de Lausanne for a place on its Hospitality Management Summer 2006 Programme, plus receiving 1000 a year for the next three years to assist with your career development.

The Olive Barnett Award was created by The Savoy Gastronomes and is administered by Springboard. It rewards the winners with an unrivalled opportunity to enhance their career to the maximum.

ìHaving originally created the Olive Barnett Award in 1975, the Savoy Gastronomes are proud to be involved with Springboard UK, the Chess Partnership, the Savoy Educational Trust and the Ecole Hotelier de Lausanne,î commented Tony Elliott, of the Savoy Gastronomes.

ìThis formidable team has turned the Olive Barnett Award into one of the major hospitality industry awards for the stars of our future.î

Entrants must be under the age of 30 as of 31 March 2006 and in permanent employment in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industry, anywhere in the world, and, most importantly, working in a customer facing role. The top eight candidates will be invited to make a personal presentation to the judging panel on their career achievements to date, and their development plans covering the next five years.

This yearís question is all about your views on the most important aspects of running a business.

ìIf you were planning to open up a business of your own in hospitality, leisure, travel or tourism, what business would it be, and what would your top five priorities be to ensure a successful and profitable ventureî?

Simply send in your 500-word answer to the question below, your CV and testimonial from your employer before the 24th March 2006 for the chance to win this fantastic prize.

ìChess is delighted to be sponsoring this award,î said Suzanna Hunter, Chess Partnership director.

ìThe award recognises outstanding leadership and vision in customer facing functions across the hospitality industry and in past years has recognised some excellent talent. The real value of this award is that the prize money is spread across three years and gives the winners an opportunity to pro-actively invest in their own skills to support their career progression.î

In addition to the winnerís prize of a career development grant of 1000 per year for a three year period, plus an expenses paid placement on the week long hospitality management summer programme at the world famous Ecole Hotelier de Lausanne, the second and third prizewinners will each receive a three-year career development grant of 750 and 500 respectively.
