East Midlands choose Maxxima as Master Vendor

.

After a rigorous procurement process Maxxima (Public Sector recruitment specialists) have been awarded Master Vendor status for the supply of temporary Allied Health Professionals (AHPs) and Health Science Service (HSS) staff to NHS organisations throughout the East Midlands region.

The contract is the result of a four month long project that included market testing and (mini competition) tendering, interviews and presentations, undertaken by the Project Team (Sourcing Group) consisting of clinicians, procurement personnel, NHS PASA, and representatives from the re:source procurement hub.

The contract will run until April 2009 and means that, for the first time, hospitals in the region will have one point of contact for all temporary recruitment across 28 different professions.

The Maxxima Collaborative is comprised of two specialist suppliers, Labmed Recruitment supplying all AHP and HSS professions with the exception of Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy which will be filled by Piers Meadows Recruitment, a specialist in that field. The partnership was created in December 2006 in order to provide the NHS with a robust Vendor Managed Solution able to provide large scale cost savings whilst still retaining the expert knowledge and attention to detail associated with more specialist agencies in the market.

There are also likely to be substantial cost savings as a result of Maxximaís appointment, with the Master Vendor exercising far greater control of temporary staffing expenditure whilst working with the Trusts involved to reduce their dependency on locum cover in the long term.

re:source Human Resources Purchasing Manager Maninder Dulku said ìOne of the biggest problems we faced was that there were so many different agencies being used and every one of them was charging a different rate. By appointing a Master Vendor, we simplify the whole process and ensure that one company has total responsibility for candidate screening and recruitment.î

Maxxima Contracts Manager Neil Webb is justifiably proud of his companyís achievement; ìBeing awarded Master Vendor status for the East Midlands is a great honour and further vindicates the model that we have developed. We have been extremely pleased with the take-up in our contract in Yorkshire & the Humber and are looking to build upon that success in partnership with re:source.î

The contract will operate under the terms of the current NHS PASA National Framework agreement, with a number of additional conditions of contract pertinent to the East Midlands Region.
