Divergent Capital Invest in bluecollar.com.au

Funding from divergent capitals underscores emerging trend towards niche online jobs boards

Sydney, NSW. bluecollar.com.au, the major Australian provider of internet careers website for the blue-collar market, today announced that leading early-stage technology investment firm Divergent Capital have invested in the company in new equity funding. The investment will facilitate the continued growth of the business via expanded sales/marketing resources programs and provide scope to explore new strategic partnership opportunities.

To date the business had been self-funded, demonstrating the strength of bluecollarís business model and its continued market momentum as both recruiters and employers seek highly targeted media for identifying and securing candidates in a very tight labour market. bluecollar is a pioneer of the niche blue-collar online jobs sector and has enjoyed considerable adoption with recruitment industry leaders such as Adecco, Skilled, and Catalyst and large corporate employers including Toll Holdings, Capral Aluminium, and the State Transit Authority.

With nearly 8,000 job seeker members and over 5,000 jobs advertised on the site in the last year, bluecollar is a proof-point of the growth in online job advertisement for the blue-collar demographic, said Chris McKay, Chairman and CEO, bluecollar. We are delighted to welcome Divergent Capital as a shareholder in bluecollar. Their prior experience in investing in online businesses and the expertise of the Divergent shareholders will be very valuable as we take bluecollar to the next level.

Divergent is very excited about joining the bluecollar team as a shareholder ìadded David Nelson Managing Director of Divergent Capital. Itís clear that the traditional off-line model of advertising and searching for blue collar jobs is not the preferred medium of the job-seeker or the recruiter. bluecollar is at the forefront of the trend towards on demand and their customer momentum speaks for itself.

bluecollar plans to use the additional funding to greatly enhance its presence in the online advertising space by potential bolt on acquisitions and additional staff and will shortly commence an intensive marketing and advertising programme that is expected will quadruple both the jobseeker numbers and jobs posted on the site within the next three (3) months. bluecollar is leading a new breed of careers websites that focus on core industry or sectors to better align their services to fit customer needs.
