Clearstone celebrates the heroes of the road with Driver awards

Inaugural 2007 Awards to acknowledge skills of UK commercial drivers

Clearstone, the LGV driver training and recruitment company, is calling on the UK driving industry to celebrate the unsung heroes of the road. The awards are the first of their kind and aim to recognise the skills and abilities of commercial LGV driver across the nation.

The winner will also have the opportunity to experience the world at the other end of the driving spectrum, going from ëBIGí to ëFASTí ñ they will receive a fantastic weekend trip of a lifetime, travelling to an Italian racing world finals in Tuscany. The weekend trip for two includes return travel, luxury hotel accommodation and ultra-exclusive raceday VIP hospitality passes! On top of this, the winner will have the chance to wet their appetite and get a taste of life in the fast lane by getting into the driving seat of a supercar on a track experience in the UK, before jetting off for the ëaccess all areasí weekend, mixing with the glitterati of the racing world!

The four runners up will each receive an official certificate presented at the prestigious final awards ceremony in London and exclusive-issue DRIVER OF THE YEAR jackets. These regional finalists will also receive a fantastically indulgent break for two, which will include a night in a luxury country house hotel with gourmet dinner, followed by a pampering spa day at the deluxe Wildmoor Spa and Health Club.

The awards will be open to anyone that drives an LGV commercial vehicle for a living, from 3.5 tonnes and above up to Class 1 drivers. Drivers must be nominated by their employers, colleagues or clients. The closing date for nominations will be 7 September 2007 when judging will begin. Regional winners, who will progress to the final on 5 October, will be chosen from London and the South East, the South West and South Wales, the Midlands and East Anglia, the North West and Yorkshire and the North East and West. Judges will include: Steve Agg, Chief Executive, Chartered Institute of Transport and Logistics, Roger King, Chief Executive, Road Haulage Asssociation, Tricia Philips, Editor, Mirror Works and Ade Richards, Principal Instructor, Clearstone Training and Recruitment.
