Business Health Services (BHS), a national provider of behavioral risk management solutions, has partnered with Wise Consulting Associates to offer Health Risk Assessment as part of Wise’s robust health and wellness initiative.
Wise Consulting, a leader in Human Resources and Payroll automation, had a desire to encourage positive health behaviors in its employees and, in turn, foster a healthier, more productive organization. Together with Wise, BHS customized a solution to raise awareness of individuals’ unique health needs and risks. The solution offers a variety of tools with which to better and more proactively manage personal health, thereby increasing the likelihood of lifestyle changes and, in turn, decreasing risk and material loss to the company.
We know our employees have stressful jobs and lead hectic lives. Yet, often ’taking care of oneself’ ends up low on the priority list, says Jennifer Wise, SPHR, President of Wise Consulting Associates. Since our employees spend considerable time at their computers, we strongly believe that offering the online Health Risk Assessment is a great way to communicate wellness information and, potentially, identify more serious issues.
The BHS Health Risk Assessment, available to Wise employees and their dependents through a password-protected online user portal, collects self-reported health and lifestyle data, which is then aggregated into a personalized health profile for the participant. The HRA also produces an aggregate summary report, which can be customized to stratify the population by a number of characteristics. Wise may further customize up to six (6) additional HRA questions. This knowledge will allow Wise to prioritize and select the most appropriate individual and group interventions for helping workers manage their own health.
Wise has added the HRA as another component of its holistic and integrated wellness program, including BHS’ signature WellCoach, a telephonic service that connects callers with a professional health educator; contemporary Work-Life services to help employees manage the stresses of daily living; and EAP services. EAPs have a long history of supporting organizations in managing risk by providing counseling, performance management, crisis response services and workplace trend analysis.
The key is identifying risk early and from a variety of health perspectives, says Dawn Motovidlak, BHS’ President/CEO. Many of the behavioral risks that contribute to negative trends like obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and smoking-related diseases can be managed and treated within the scope of a comprehensive workplace program, before they become serious illnesses and impact a companyís bottom line.
