Blue Collar Power Underpins Job Market

August has proven to be yet another record month for the Olivier Internet Job Index

August has proven to be yet another record month for the Olivier Internet Job Index, although it seems that the increase in online job advertising may be slowing down due to a number of economic factors. The overall rise this month compared to July was 1.56 % (seasonally adjusted).

Over the past 12 months, the IJI has indicated that vacancies within the Blue Collar sector have been exceeding the Professions in terms of demand. Rises in figures in the Blue collar sector over the past 12 months have contributed to almost half of total job advertisement growth.

Robert Olivier, Director of the Olivier Group warns that despite continued growth in the online job advertising market, it could be about to fragment. Job boards are costing more for recruiters to use and the average cost per placement online is becoming comparable to print advertising.

The most significant rise in advertisement figures this month occurred within the Educational sector, with vacancies rising by 10.83 %.
