ëThink outside the boxí with SHLís Inductive Reasoning Test

SHL has launched SHL Verify Inductive Reasoning, the latest addition to the Verify range of online ability tests

SHL has launched SHL Verify Inductive Reasoning, the latest addition to the Verify range of online ability tests. Inductive reasoning determines a candidateís ability to ëthink outside the boxí in terms of creative problem-solving, data analysis and formulating new strategies and concepts.

SHLís Inductive Reasoning test is useful for recruiting candidates into roles that involve corporate strategy, creativity, new product development, research & development and IT. It can also be beneficial for identifying potential senior management and executives, where problem-solving and decision-making inevitably require more innovative solutions.

This new test complements the Verify Verbal and Numerical reasoning tests, which focus on solutions based on general principles or rules. In contrast, inductive reasoning focuses on a personís ability to work with incomplete information and novel problems, developing new concepts and approaches to solve them.

ìSHLís Inductive Reasoning Test provides companies with a useful tool to identify creative and innovative thinkers,î commented Nick Hallwood, SHL Director of Product. ìWhen used in the early stages of a recruitment process, it can screen potential employees, identifying those with the necessary attributes for the role and allowing inappropriate candidates to be removed from the recruitment process. This can save valuable time for HR and recruitment professionals, which would usually be spent interviewing candidates and running assessment centres.î

The test takes around 25 minutes to complete online, whilst a verification test, which is usually completed when the candidate attends their interview, takes around seven minutes. This verification ensures that the person attending the interview is of the same ability as the person who took the original unsupervised test.
