O2 scoops recruitment award for second consecutive year

Triumphant win for O2 at Scottish Recruitment Awards

The UKís mobile services provider O2 last night walked away with the title of Industry Recruiter of the Year for the second year running in recognition of its successful recruitment drive at Glasgowís Skypark ñ O2ís flagship contact centre.

The Scottish Recruitment Awards recognises high achievers in the marketplace, and awards those who have excelled in the past year. The accolade recognises O2ís implementation of a new recruitment process to attract additional high-calibre employees to its contact centre.

Supporting the growth and expansion of O2 in Scotland the recruitment drive played a crucial role over the last year. O2 created an informed, structured campaign that was implemented to attract and hire the best and broadest range of talent.

Coinciding with a number of open days at its Skypark contact centre, a broad range of attraction activity was used to ensure access to all segments of the Glasgow market. Capitalising on its central location, O2 also participated in events such as the River Festival in summer 2007 to promote the wealth of employment opportunities on offer.

New roles at Glasgowís contact centre were specially created to handle business from O2ís new broadband service. Together with the existing recruitment drive to employ customer service advisors for O2 mobile, the new broadband recruitment drive has taken Skyparkís total complement to 1200 people with another 300 positions available before the end of 2008.

As an open and diverse employer, O2 continually looks to recruit enthusiastic people who are interested in working within the communications industry in a role that is customer-focussed.

The recruitment team are using a process where candidates provided feedback both pre and post hire, to ensure a continued experience for the new employee and to monitor and utilise feedback to make the candidate experience even better. A training programme was rolled out to managers and assessors so they fully understood the new recruitment process and its design.

Julie Fiddes, Head of Consumer Postpay, at the Skypark centre in Glasgow said, ìO2 continually strives to recruit only the best in the field and believe our efforts to achieve this are second-to-none. We are delighted to win this award and it is testament to the innovative methods which are implemented in the O2 recruitment methods.

ìWe are currently sitting at around 1,200 employees at Skypark, ranging from customer service advisors to e-care and broadband advisors through to team managers and customer service managers, which is a fantastic achievement. Also since the launch of the iPhone on O2 we have become the main point of contact for customers using the new handset. Our goal is to continue to develop the offering in Skypark by recruiting more good people to the teams here.

ìQuality customer service underpins O2ís core business so recruiting the best possible people is a priority, particularly with the on-going business expansion in Scotland.î
