Monday the 21st of January was officially the most depressing day of the year. With the nation feeling the pressure of the previous months over spending, over indulging and failing most of their New Yearís resolutions, the term ëBlue Mondayí certainly sums up the populationís feelings. In contrast to this, January has always been a booming month in the recruitment industry. With the New Year blues staining the UKís population, the urges to pursue new careers are escalating.
Blue Monday tends to give both passive and serious job hunters that all important push, creating greater urges to climb up the career ladder and seek better packages. CV-Library saw in excess of 3600 new CVís uploaded and 83,000 job searches carried out on the predicted day of gloom.
Studies from searches conducted by CV-Library throughout the year by comparing candidates registered salaries, with those they are searching for have shown noticeable rises in candidates looking to develop their careers. There has been a lack in both qualified and experienced candidates for more senior roles, but with the January Blues giving that essential dose of added motivation, there will be plenty of contenders to fill those traditionally ëharder to fillí vacancies.
