CIPD conference to help organisations manage talent successfully

Talent management is increasingly seen as a critical success factor as businesses strive for competitive advantage

Talent management is increasingly seen as a critical success factor as businesses strive for competitive advantage. However, according to research from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) 74% of organisations do not have a clearly defined talent management strategy in place (CIPD Learning and Development Survey 2006).

The Talent Management Conference will be held in London on 26 February at Victoria Park Plaza and will mix case studies with expert advice, to create and further develop existing talent management strategies for businesses.

Highlights at the conference include:

Tim Miller, Director of People Property and Assurance at Standard Chartered Bank, on Developing a Talent Management Strategy

Mark Roberts, Head of Talent, Tesco, discussing Organisation-wide Implementation and Alignment of talent management

Elizabeth Crosse, HR Consultant, Legal Services Commission, on Talent Management for Evolving Business Needs

The event will also include open question time and networking opportunities with representatives from other organisations including; Cambridgeshire County Council, Deloitte, American Express and Siemens.

Victoria Winkler, CIPD Learning, Training and Development Adviser says: ìAt the heart of the growing interest in talent management is the recognition that itís not enough just to attract individuals with high potential.

ìThere needs to be a planned strategy for managing talent that retains the commitment of talented employees and properly utilises their abilities. The CIPD conference in February provides an excellent opportunity to hear how leading organisations are tackling this challenge and to hear from experts in the field.î
