SEEK Ltd, the leading online employment site today became the first company in Australia and New Zealand to launch a sponsored group on the increasingly popular Facebook website.
Facebook, the Internetís leading social utility, offers an efficient way for people to communicate and share information with their friends and the people around them. With more than 1.9 million active users in Australia and more than 285,000 active users in New Zealand, Facebook is one of the fastest-growing websites in the region.
With this rapid growth in social media, SEEK is at the forefront of delivering the largest job ad volume to a broader range of candidates. The SEEK sponsored group provides job search functionality, career resources content and discussion forums within the Facebook website. It allows Facebook users to have jobs that meet their specified criteria delivered straight to their profile. SEEK also gain viral awareness of its brand as information about users joining its group spreads between friends through usersí News Feeds, or personalised home pages of friend activities.
SEEK has also launched an additional application on the Facebook Platform, a development system that enables companies to build applications for the Facebook website. Known as the ëSEEK Inklingí, it involves an ink blot that changes regularly with members able to share their interpretation of the ink blot with their friends.
This innovative approach to promoting SEEKís high profile brand is part of the companyís strategy of taking its messages to a broader audience.
According to Jason Lenga, SEEK Corporate Strategy Director, brand promotion via Facebook is another example of SEEK reaching a passive jobseeking audience in a non-traditional way.
ìSocial sites are becoming incredibly popular across all age groups and our foray into Facebook is all about ensuring the SEEK brand is front of mind with online consumers.î
ìFacebook is a fantastic medium for building relationships based on common interests. Entering this domain isnít just about increasing brand exposure, itís a way for users to interact with the SEEK brand. Facebook allows us to demonstrate the dynamic side of the SEEK personality; which is difficult to communicate via traditional static mediums.î
ìIn this competitive employment market, reaching passive jobseekers is extremely attractive to employers. SEEK works hard to find new ways of positioning SEEK in front of people who may not be actively seeking a career move,î he said.
