The latest exciting initiative at The World of Learning 2007, the UKís key conference and exhibition for business learning and development, is seminars by leading industry experts on getting the best out of graduates.
This yearís World of Learning event, with an array of new features, more than one hundred impressive exhibitors, inspiring presentations and seminars, will be another comprehensive showcase of the very best the industry has to offer. Taking place at the NEC, Birmingham on 14 & 15 November 2007, it will provide a wealth of information for anyone responsible for training within their team or business.
The graduate seminars will take place on Thursday 15 November. At 11:15am Diane Lynch, Assistant Vice-President of Rental for the UK and Ireland and Clare Beynon, Training Supervisor at Enterprise Rent-a-car, will explain: ìBridging the gap between education and the working world.î They will provide insight on the fast development of transferable skills, managing the balance between learning and carrying out the job and how to manage responsibility within graduate roles.
îManaging motivation and expectations of graduatesî will be the focus of the seminar at 13:30pm. This will be presented by David Meekison, Human Resources Manager, 3M, the company best known as inventors of Scotch Tape and Post-It notes. 3M has 75,000 employees in 200 countries. Davidís seminar will cover the subject of the new type of graduate, ìGeneration 'Yíî. He will discuss creating awareness of the business structure and their role within it, how to ensure the job lives up to expectations and how to encourage graduate retention.
Jim Reilly, project manager of the World of Learning 2007, explained: ìThese graduate seminars are designed to meet the needs of many organisations. We continually consult the industry to ensure that the event provides solutions to the problems that our visitors face in their challenging roles.î
The graduate seminars are the latest of several new features at World of Learning 2007.
For the first time, the exhibition is featuring a series of free educational seminars. Among the topics being addressed are ëengaging sceptical learnersí, ëfuture trends of e-learningí, ëmanaging graduate traineesí, ëlearning to communicate with impactí and ëleading teams to high performanceí.
Also new this year are interactive workshops within the world-class Conference. The hands-on sessions include how to become a better leader, developing influencing skills and methods of motivating staff to undertake learning and development. The Conference Centres of Excellence Pavilion featuring leading conference and training venue providers from across the UK is another feature appearing for the first time.
The World of Learning 2007 offers a complete A-Z of learning and development products and solutions, ranging from instructor-led training, coaching, blended solutions and management development to e-learning, distance learning, training software and training venues. World of Learning is open from 10am each day, closing at 5pm on Wednesday 14 November and 4pm on Thursday 15 November.
