Reed launches Jobcastô

Companies serious about winning the war for talent and employing the best staff must embrace e-technology, say recruitment experts Reed

Companies serious about winning the war for talent and employing the best staff must embrace e-technology, say recruitment experts Reed.

The popularity of Web 2.0, with its user-generated content and ever popular social networking sites, has been the driving force behind Reedís latest innovation, jobcastô - a revolutionary video recruitment service.

Employers create a ëvirtual job specí, or Podcast, which gives prospective employees an insight into life at their organisation, capturing everything from the working environment to organisational culture. Videos are posted on www.reedjobcast.com, where they can be accessed by the one million plus unique job seekers that visit reed.co.uk every month.

Already adopted by the BBC and Lloyds TSB, jobcastô allows companies to communicate directly with job hunters, in a way that suits them. Not only can it be viewed online with any PC or Mac, it can be downloaded to an MP4, or other portable media player to be watched anytime, anywhere.

James Reed, chairman of Reed says: ìAttracting talent is a real challenge ñ even for well known businesses. Candidates are attracted to organisations that take recruitment seriously, so the pressure is on to adopt cutting edge initiatives to attract quality candidates. The beauty of jobcast is that it allows companies to promote their brand and demonstrate their unique selling points to prospective employees at the outset. A video job posting will invoke an emotional reaction from its viewers, in a way that print often doesnít allow.î

The family owned organisation has been at the forefront of pioneering change in the recruitment industry, being the first to introduce Freecruitmentô, e-timesheets and the UKís first dedicated online jobsite. Currently reed.co.uk is the UKís largest recruitment website, with over 300,000 vacancies and over 2.5 million registered users.

James continues: ìAt Reed we recognise that investing in new technology is a given in order to offer the businesses we work with a truly unique and bespoke service. Traditional newspaper advertising is not as effective as it once was, and HR managers are increasingly directing more of their recruitment advertising spend to online media. Although seen by a wide audience, online print adverts still often fail to effectively promote an employerís corporate brand, and give minimal scope for companies to differentiate from their competitors. We believe jobcast creates a very real solution to this issue.

Reed facilitates all stages of the jobcast preparation, from articulating the initial brief and working closely with clients to reveal the cultural truths of their organisation, to final production and edit. Alternatively, Reed can host videos that organisations already have in existence. For further information about jobcastô call 0870 7201014 or email create.jobcast@reed.co.uk.
