Kwik-Fit Insurance has been awarded recognition from the Institute of Fundraising following the companyís achievements in payroll giving.

The insurance intermediary, which currently has over 950 employees, was awarded the recognition, initially at bronze level for the money given so far in 2007 by staff. This has been given a huge boost by the introduction of the companyís ëdonate an hours payí scheme which launched back in January to raise money for itís Charity of the Year, Tak Tent.

The scheme has so far raised nearly 20,000 for the Glasgow-based cancer support charity and has had an impressive uptake with over 600 hundred staff donating an hours wage.

Head of the Charities Committee for Kwik-Fit Insurance, Marie Stewart was overwhelmed by the uptake of payroll giving from staff and thrilled by the recognition from the Institute of Fundraising.

She said: ìWith so many people working for Kwik-Fit Insurance, Payroll Giving seemed the best way to give everyone the opportunity to donate to our Charity of the Year.î

ìI am delighted so many of our people got involved and thanks to the scheme we are already well on our way to reaching the 30,000 target that has been pledged to Tak Tent.î

ìThe bronze payroll giving award is an excellent accolade to achieve and we hope to have completed all the necessary criteria for gold level very soon. The recognition has showcased our commitment so far and will drive us on to get more involved and raise even more money for charity through this scheme.î

Kwik-Fit Insurance received the Payroll Giving Quality Mark which recognises and rewards organisations for making Payroll Giving available to their staff. The Quality Mark provides employers with a certificate and logo for signing up to Payroll Giving and Bronze, Silver and Gold Awards in respect of each employer's employee participation rates. The Quality Mark aims to provide UK charities with sustainable income streams by increasing participation in Payroll Giving.

Tak Tent, based at Gartnavel Hospital, promotes the care of people in Scotland who are suffering from cancer, along with their friends and family, by providing emotional support to all.
