Claireís drives job applicants online

Claireís, the accessories retailer, has launched a dedicated recruitment website to drive job applications for retail store and central office positions online

Claireís, the accessories retailer, has launched a dedicated recruitment website to drive job applications for retail store and central office positions online.

The website, www.clairescareers.co.uk. The website guides future Claireís employees through various colour coded sections of the website, giving details on the background to Claireís, a summary of the various roles and departments, a chance to read profiles of current Claireís employees, a search function to find current vacancies and a job spec for each available role.

All vacant Central Office and store management roles are now posted on www.clairescareers.co.uk; from district sales managers to assistant store managers and vacancies in the buying department through to the IT department.

The application process takes the applicant through a straightforward, structured competency-based process. One of these stages covers positional questions including where the applicant has offered exceptional customer service, exceeded expectations, where they have led a team and why a job at Claireís attracts them.

The website is part of Claireís Retail Campaign strategy. Launched in April this year the campaign promotes careers in retail and the Claireís careers site has been developed to show the scope and range of opportunities that exist within a leading retail operation ñ both in-store and at Central Office.

Claireís HR Director, Nicki Crossland, comments: ìAlready in the last few weeks, there has been a noticeable decrease in poorly targeted applications ñ the structured process is without a doubt attracting applicants of a higher calibre. The site gives a person interested in working at Claireís a really detailed overview of life at Claireís ñ our culture, the roles available and what is expected of a Claireís employee.

Nicki continues: ìWe are aiming for this recruitment site to eventually roll out across Belgium and The Netherlands. It has completely streamlined our recruitment process ñ we can see the number of views and applications per role at the touch of a button. This can only help the recruitment team with targeting and assessment as time goes by.î

Each job featured on the website has a unique URL which can then be used on the relevant job advertisement ñ this directs applicants immediately through to the relevant application form. The level of back-end reporting includes:

Media Stats ñ the title or website that featured an advertisement/job listing that has resulted in an applicant being directed to the recruitment website and completing an application.

Equal opportunity ñ a full analysis (either job by job or overall) of the sex of applicants; disabilities; race; age; religion etc.

Applicant process ñ a view of what stage each applicant is currently at within the process.

In the autumn Claireís will be supporting the website with a full marketing campaign including outdoor marketing (bus and train stations) and press and online traffic driving advertisements.
