GCA Recruitment in Ascot has been bearing the brunt of the recent bad weather in raising money for Thames Hospicecare ñ but remain delighted with the results of their labours!

The agency has been committed supporters of the Hospice for the last five years, helping with a variety of fundraising events during the year.

ìThe Hospice has to raise approximately 80% of their operating costs each year through voluntary donations. That is a staggering 4 million to find each year to ensure that the very essential care and support that the Hospice provides to our community can continue.î Explains Geraldine Cole, Director of GCA.

Some of these funds were raised by Geraldine and her colleagues at the annual Thames Hospicecare Victorian Street Fayre in Sunninghill.

ìWhen we heard that the Hospice was having difficulties in running the fayre this year we immediately started looking at alternatives ways of raising money and helping with increasing the profile of the Hospice. I know first hand how important the money raised by local businesses like ours is to the Hospiceî Says Geraldine.

GCA Recruitment along with other supporters faced torrential rain to help the Hospice raise over 8,300 at the recent Charity Golf Day at Foxhills.

ìWe sponsored a Hole-In-One competition during the day which gave the players an extra challenge - and it really was a challenge on one of the wettest days of the year!î

But Geraldine and her colleagues will be hoping for drier times when they take part in the Windsor Ladies 8KM on Saturday 29 September.

ìWeíve been out training rain or shine and after the Golf Day who knows what weíll get on the day ñ snow? It doesnít matter though, so long as we draw attention to the Hospiceís work, raise some very essential sponsorship and have a laugh on the day.î

ìI know that Susan Blues at the Hospice would love to hear from many more businesses and individuals keen to run either on the Saturday or in the Windsor Half Marathon on Sunday 30 September. Susan goes on maternity leave in September and this will be her final event for the Hospice after 4 years hard work fundraising so it would be a fantastic if this could be the biggest and best fundraiser the Hospice has ever known as a thank you to Susan.î Adds Geraldine.
