Following the report from Knight Frank that the space available for UK employees in offices is shrinking, Richard Wolfe-Damipre, director at Citrix Online (creators of remote working tool GoToMyPC) has commented:
ìAs traffic congestion and office overcrowding become more and more problematic, businesses must think laterally about how to stop staff becoming uncomfortable.
ìThere is no need for people to be cramped into sweaty offices when mobile working technology exists, providing them with the same resources theyíd have in the office from any Internet-connected device. People can easily work effectively from home ñ or even, with a wireless connection, from a shady spot in the garden.
ìBusinesses need to provide more than just remote email, or staff will have to keep coming back to the office. At the same time, itís not feasible to put a whole CRM system on a laptop to enable staff to record customer interaction from home. To avoid duplication of effort, remote access needs to be provided, so that staff can use the applications and data on their office PC from wherever they are.
ìCompanies are failing staff if they donít offer these options, as people are sure to perform better in a more amenable working environment.î
